At a glance: Samsung wireless charging

  • Using inductive charging, many Samsung mobile phones can be charged without cables
  • Flagships such as the Samsung S24, S23, S22, S21 or S20 support wireless charging as standard
  • Mid-range models such as the Samsung A51 or A71 are not equipped with wireless charging
  • It is also possible to upgrade to inductive charging on Samsung mobile phones
  • Compatible Samsung mobile phones can wirelessly pass on electricity to other Qi-capable devices via Wireless PowerShare

What is inductive charging?

Inductive charging is a way to charge mobile phones without a cable. Samsung wireless charging functions according to the Qi standard. Smartphones from Samsung that support wireless charging are equipped with an induction coil. If you, for example, place the Samsung S24, S23, S22, S21 or S20 FE, which support inductive charging, on a compatible charging station, a magnetic field is created, via which electrical energy flows wirelessly into the rechargeable battery by means of induction. But not all Samsung mobile phones support wireless charging. You can, for example, also charge an iPhone wirelessly.

Upgrade to induction charging on the Samsung A51, A71 and the like

For Samsung smartphones that do not support wireless charging as standard, the function can also be upgraded with special Qi adapters. These contain the necessary induction coils, are simply attached to the back and are ideally protected by a thin cover.

To allow the power transferred via wireless charging to enter the phone battery, the adapter uses the usual charging connection. Whether a Samsung A52, M51 or A71: The Qi adapters are suitable for many models, so you only need a suitable Qi charger to wirelessly charge your incompatible Samsung mobile phone.

Qi technology: Suitable induction chargers for Samsung

Whether wireless charging is built-in, like for the Samsung S24, S23, S22, S21 and S20, or has been upgraded later, such as for the Samsung A51: Inductive charging only works with a compatible charging station. If you make use of the widespread Qi standard for this, you’ll be doing everything right. Charging stations with this standard are not only compatible to wirelessly charge Samsung mobile phones, among others, but a wide range of them are available for many fields of application.

Would you like to use inductive charging in the car for your Samsung S21? Or do you need a wireless charger to charge two mobile phones wirelessly at the same time? Then choose a dual wireless charger and charge your Samsung mobile phone, for instance, at the same time as an iPhone.

Wireless PowerShare: Pass on power from the rechargeable battery

Newer Samsung smartphones, which support wireless charging as standard, can also act as a charging station themselves thanks to Wireless PowerShare and thus wirelessly charge Qi-enabled devices. Samsung Wireless PowerShare has been available since the Galaxy S10, so it is also found in current models with wireless charging, such as the Samsung S24, S23, S22, S21 or S20. You can activate the feature if your phone battery has a charge of more than 30 per cent.

Simply activate Samsung Wireless PowerShare simply via Quick Access. To do this, just pull down the status bar and tap on the icon. You can then use the wireless charging function of your Samsung phone to charge other devices without a cable.

Simply place the device to be charged on the back of your mobile phone. Inductive charging begins automatically and also ends automatically once only 30 per cent of the battery remains in the energy-providing mobile phone.
